NATURE TRAILS FOR BIRDS AND ANIMALS
Day 1 - Visit to Santa Mission, Kayaking & Nature Trails
Your day starts early with a 07:00hr departure from Roraima Duke Lodge to Timehri Marine. On the hour long drive, enjoy scenic views of the East Bank of the Demerara River passing various villages, factories and green sugar cane fields. Once boarded, the boat takes you on a 35 mins trip to Santa Mission Amerindian Reservation where you will be able to purchase handmade crafts. After 30 mins you will re-board the boat for a 15 mins trip to Arrowpoint Nature Resort where you will be greeted by Roraima’s friendly staff. You will then be briefed on the history and safety of the resort while enjoying some locally made Guyanese snacks.
After you have been shown to your accommodations, you will be able to relax and enjoy the sound of the birds chirping while preparing for your next activity. After settling in, you can enjoy a short kayaking trip down the river to Lucky Seed Landing and either hike or bike the trails back to the resort. Either option provides a great experience and works up a big appetite! This is makes the 12:00hrs lunch even more delicious. After lunch, you ca swim, watch how cassava bread is made or relax in one of the many hammocks around the resort. As the day winds down, you can enjoy the view of the sunset on the river bank.
You will enjoy dinner served buffet style on the beach around the bon-fire while listening to stories about the region. After dinner, you can experience the ‘Creatures of the Night’ expedition, a guided tour into the jungle in the night, wearing a headlight. Return by boat where you will use the light to spot fish and Caimans. Overnight at Arrowpoint Nature Resort.
Day 2 - Morning Expedition and Breakfast
Wake up to the beautiful sound of the birds chirping. Choose between birding or fishing in the early morning with guides. After breakfast prepare to depart Arrowpoint Nature Resort for your journey back to Georgetown just in time for lunch.
