IN THE HEART OF GUYANA’S RAINFORESTS
GREAT FOR BIRDING
BEST OF COMMUNITY LIVING
Day 1 - Arrive at Surama
Leave Georgetown via your choice of transportation to the Surama Eco-lodge – a 12 hour adventurous drive or an hour and a half flight through one of Guyana’s local air carriers. Once at Surama, receive a warm welcome from a village councillor by having a refreshing snack and discussing your itinerary for the next coming days. After settling in to your accommodation, go on a guided tour of the village to know about the settlers of Surama Village and their way of life. You will visit the local school, medical centre and church along with some village houses before having a late lunch. This tour is a three kilometre walk.

Day 2 - Surama Mountain & Carahaa Landing
Rise before dawn for a walk across the savannah and a challenging climb up Surama Mountain in the cool morning air. The tour takes you on an amazing 5 kilometre return journey where you will see amazing birdlife in the early morning hours. Breakfast will be served at a lookout point which affords incredible views. After rest, transfer across the savannah and through the rainforest to the Burro-Burro River for an overnight stay in a hammock at the Carahaa Landing Camp.
