Located on Main Street, New Amsterdam, the New Central Jama Masjid was first erected in 1935 as a flat wooden structure. To date, it is a two story concrete masjid with features of authentic, Islamic religious architecture. Its centrally positioned bulbous dome and large minaret at the side of the building places emphasis on the East Indian influences in Guyana.
